Terms of Service
The terms on which SubhLagan provides its matrimonial service, and what we each expect of the other.
SubhLagan is strictly a matrimonial service. It exists to help individuals and families find a partner for marriage. It is not a dating platform, and it may not be used to seek casual relationships, companionship, or to post obscene or objectionable material. Profiles used for any purpose other than seeking a matrimonial alliance will be closed.
These Terms and Your Agreement to Them
These Terms of Service govern your use of the SubhLagan website, the member portal, and the matchmaking service provided by Subhlagan.com Private Limited ("SubhLagan", "we", "us"). By submitting an enquiry, creating an account, or using any part of the service, you agree to these terms.
If you do not agree to them, please do not use the service.
Where you have also signed a separate service agreement with us, that agreement governs the commercial terms of your membership — the services included, the fees, and the duration. These terms cover your use of the platform. If the two conflict on a commercial matter, the signed service agreement takes precedence.
These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information.
What SubhLagan Is — and What It Is Not
SubhLagan is a matrimonial service. Its sole purpose is to help individuals and their families find a suitable partner for marriage.
SubhLagan is not a dating platform, a casual introduction service, a friendship or networking site, or an escort or companionship service. Using it for any of those purposes, or for any purpose other than seeking a matrimonial alliance, is a breach of these terms and will result in your account being closed.
We are a facilitator. We introduce prospective matches and support the conversation between families. We do not act as an agent for either party, we take no part in the decision to marry, and we give no assurance that any introduction will result in a marriage or in any other outcome.
Who May Use the Service
To register, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age. The minimum legal age of marriage in India is 18 for women and 21 for men, and you must satisfy the applicable minimum before entering into a marriage.
- Be legally competent to enter into a contract.
- Be legally free to marry — that is, unmarried, or legally divorced, or widowed. A person whose marriage has not been legally dissolved may not register.
- Not be prohibited from using the service under any applicable law, and not be a person whose account we have previously closed for breach of these terms.
A profile may be created by the individual concerned, or by a parent, sibling, relative or friend on their behalf. If you register on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have their knowledge and permission to do so, that the information you provide about them is accurate, and that they consent to their information being used as described in our Privacy Policy. You remain responsible for everything submitted through that profile.
Your Declarations at Registration
By registering, you declare that:
- You are seeking a matrimonial alliance, and you intend to use the service for that purpose only.
- The information you have provided is true, accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge, and you will keep it up to date.
- You are legally free to marry, and you have disclosed anything that would prevent or materially affect a marriage.
- You have the right to share any photograph, document or information you provide, including anything relating to another person.
These declarations matter. Other families rely on them when deciding whether to proceed, and a marriage is not an ordinary transaction. Providing false, misleading or incomplete information — about marital status, age, health, education, occupation, income, family circumstances or anything else material — is a serious breach of these terms.
We may ask you to supply proof of identity, address, age, marital status, education or occupation at any time, and we may decline or close a profile where satisfactory proof is not provided.
Registration, Accounts and Security
Registration begins with an enquiry. We do not issue credentials at that point. Your Matchmaking Expert will contact you, discuss your requirements, and set up your account, sending you login details separately once your enquiry has been reviewed.
You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for everything done through your account. Do not share your password, do not reuse it on other websites, and tell us immediately if you believe someone else has gained access.
One person may hold one profile. Creating duplicate profiles, or a profile in someone else's name without their permission, is a breach of these terms.
We may suspend access, require a password change, or take other protective steps where we reasonably believe an account has been compromised or is being misused.
Verification, and Its Limits
We carry out checks on profiles as part of our onboarding process, which may include reviewing documents, video interaction and family reference conversations. These checks are an important part of how we work, and we take them seriously.
They are not a guarantee. We can verify what is presented to us; we cannot certify that every statement any member makes is true, and we do not conduct criminal, financial or medical investigations. Documents can be forged, circumstances change, and people sometimes conceal things.
You are therefore responsible for making your own enquiries before committing to any alliance. We strongly recommend that you and your family independently verify identity, marital status, family background, education, occupation, financial position and health before proceeding, and take legal or professional advice where appropriate.
Meet in a safe, public place, involve your family, and take your time. If anything about a prospective match causes you concern — pressure to move quickly, requests for money, reluctance to meet family, or inconsistencies in what you are told — stop and tell us immediately.
We will never ask you for money on behalf of another member, and no member should ask you for money, gifts, or financial or banking information. Any such request should be reported to us at once.
How Your Profile Is Shared
Profiles on SubhLagan are not publicly searchable and are not visible to anyone browsing the website.
Your Matchmaking Expert selects prospective matches and shares your profile with them only after confirming your agreement to that specific introduction. Your direct contact details are not included in a profile shared for consideration; contact between families is arranged through us unless both sides agree otherwise.
You may decline any introduction, and you may ask us at any time to stop sharing your profile.
If another member's profile, photographs or details are shared with you, they are given to you in confidence and for the sole purpose of considering a matrimonial alliance. You must not copy, publish, forward, post on social media, or use them for any other purpose, and you must destroy or return them if the introduction does not proceed.
Conduct — What Is Not Permitted
You must not:
- Post, share or transmit anything obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, defamatory, abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, or that promotes discrimination or violence.
- Use the service to solicit dating, casual relationships, companionship for payment, or anything other than marriage.
- Misrepresent your identity, age, marital status, or any other material fact, or impersonate any person.
- Harass, stalk, intimidate or repeatedly contact a member who has declined an introduction or asked you to stop.
- Request or solicit money, gifts, loans, banking details or financial information from another member.
- Copy, republish, forward or otherwise disclose another member's profile, photographs or details to anyone outside your immediate family considering the alliance.
- Use the service for any commercial purpose, including advertising, recruitment or promoting another service.
- Collect or extract member information by automated means, including scraping, crawling or bulk downloading.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform, any account, or any of our systems, or interfere with their operation or security.
- Upload anything containing a virus or other harmful code, or that infringes anyone's intellectual property or privacy.
- Do anything unlawful, or anything that encourages another person to break the law.
We may investigate any suspected breach, and we may remove content, suspend or close accounts, and report matters to law enforcement where appropriate. We will cooperate with any lawful investigation. If you wish to report a member, unsafe conduct or any content on the platform, contact us using the details at the end of this page — reports concerning safety, harassment or suspected fraud are treated as urgent.
Content You Provide
You keep ownership of the photographs, documents and information you provide. By submitting them, you grant us permission to store them and to use and share them for the purposes of providing the matchmaking service, as described in our Privacy Policy. That permission ends when you withdraw the content or close your account, except where we are required to retain records.
You are responsible for what you submit. You confirm that you have the right to provide it and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
We may decline, edit for clarity, or remove any content that breaches these terms or that we consider unsuitable. We are not obliged to review or monitor content, and we do not endorse anything a member states about themselves.
Our Content and Trade Marks
The SubhLagan name, logo, website design, text, graphics and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may use them only as necessary to use the service.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display or commercially exploit any part of the platform without our prior written permission.
Fees and Payment
Membership fees, the services included, the term and any renewal arrangements are set out in the service agreement you sign with us, and are explained to you before you commit. Fees are for the matchmaking service we provide — they are not a payment for any outcome.
We do not charge a fee for a marriage taking place, and we do not accept payment from one member on behalf of another.
Refund and cancellation terms are those set out in your service agreement. If you are unclear about any charge, contact us before paying.
We will never ask for payment by any route other than those set out in your service agreement, and we will never ask for your card details, banking passwords or one-time passwords by email, chat or telephone.
Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to close your account. We will act on that request as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close your account, with notice where practicable, if you breach these terms, if information you have provided proves to be materially false, if your conduct puts another member at risk, if we are required to do so by law, or if we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse.
Where we close an account for a serious breach we may do so without notice. Sections covering confidentiality, content you have provided, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law survive closure.
Closure of an account does not affect any commercial rights or obligations under a signed service agreement.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not give any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular match, introduction, engagement or marriage will result from it.
Information on a member's profile is supplied by that member or their family. We present it in good faith but we do not warrant its accuracy, completeness or reliability, and we are not responsible for the conduct of any member — online or in person, before or after an introduction.
Any decision to proceed with an alliance is yours and your family's alone, taken on your own assessment. Nothing on the platform or said by our staff constitutes legal, financial, medical or astrological advice.
Where the website links to a third-party site, we do not control it and are not responsible for its content or its privacy practices.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, opportunity, reputation or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with the service.
We are not liable for the acts, omissions, statements or conduct of any member or third party, including any loss arising from a member providing false information, from an introduction that does not proceed, from a marriage that does not take place, or from a dispute between families.
Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the service, on any basis, is limited to the fees you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss, liability or reasonable cost we incur arising from your breach of these terms, from information you have provided that proves to be false or misleading, from your infringement of another person's rights, or from your unlawful conduct in connection with the service.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the service or the law changes. The version identifier appears at the top and bottom of this page, and every published version is retained.
Where a change materially affects your rights or obligations we will give you notice. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you may close your account.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or with the service.
Before commencing proceedings, please raise the matter with us using the contact details on this page so that we have an opportunity to resolve it.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information.
